In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Through my research I found that most of the front cover shots were usually medium close ups to show the face of the person on the front as well as show the clothes they were wearing. This is significant as the traditional clothing is a big part of Indian culture and it is a huge signifier that would show my target audience what type of magazine it is. This is why in my planning, research and actual construction I included traditional Indian wear as a necessity for my models. The painted bindi is more traditional looking but the jewellery bindi is more stunning and elegant than the ones that are painted on and will make my model more expensive looking, which works considering she's to play a successful singer and also stands out more and make the picture more beautiful.
Another thing I found quite challenging was presenting my magazine as a music magazine in a clear way because although the genre of Bollywood was clear through the mise-en-scene, the magazine could also come across as a lifestyle or fashion magazine. This is because I couldn't include any traditional instruments such as the Mandolin or the Tumbi as they're not everyday instruments that you could buy from a shop. This limited and restricted my options as an acoustic guitar wouldn't work with my genre. This forced me to have to leave out the idea of using an instrument which meant that the genre of the magazine was hard to recognise at first glance.
As well as this through my survey I established that when most people think of Bollywood they think of bright lights and bold colours and fun. To emulate this in my magazine I used natural lighting show the face clearly and present a bright look to the magazine as well as primary colours such as red as the base.
