"The One I Want"
I hear it's sad
I know it ain't
Ain't easy
To love someone
But he is the one I want
My love I see in front of me
The hero and the falling man
But he is the one I want
Oh, can we forget yesterday
He has passed out on the bed
With tears in his eyes
He was lost but I have found
He's deeper than the ocean
Higher than the rain
Let me walk beside you now
Oh I will never leave you in so much pain
A lover and a fighter
He was the best I ever had
He is the one I want
Come lay your head upon my heart
Go easy on me
I know that I am the one you want
Oh, can we forget yesterday
Throw me right down on the bed
We can forget it all
He was lost but I have found
He's deeper than the ocean
Higher than the rain
Let me walk beside you now
Oh I will never leave you in so much pain
The protagonist is recalling past experience of being told that being in relationships can be heartbreaking and difficult to maintain but she wants to be with someone regardless.
This line opens up an opportunity for the audience to see the man the protagonist is interested in. She seems to be acknowledging both his good and bad sides through 'falling man' but still loves him anyway.
I think this is showing that the male she is interested in has had a bad past but the protagonist feels she can help him.
She seems to be talking right to the male in this instance and is as if she is making a promise to him, that they will always be together and she won't leave him behind like others may have.
This develops the narrative a bit more and suggests that the protagonist had a past relationship with the man mentioned and wants him back.
This line highlights the sexual part of the relationship and further develops the idea of a fight or break up. The use of 'oh' suggests he is against the idea of getting back together and gives the impression of her constantly suggesting the idea.
