From interviewing my target audience I have found that they expect my music video to include

Instruments you can hear in the music; specifically acoustic guitars

more narrative than performance

a clear sense of genre represented by the mise-en-scene
"I want acoustic guitars and other instruments in the background but not like a whole band because then it would be more rock. Also I feel like flowy outfits would go really well so kind of a bohemian style and there should be a narrative throughout so that you can kind of go along with more than just a performance"
"I expect to see some reference to folklore like fairytale, ghost kind of stuff that would make the music video stand out and link back to the root of folk music. It should blend modern day with old styles to keep it relevant."
