// Just A Dream

click for artist information.

This music video it starts with the artist acting as a character with a man. They speak and the dialogue suggests they are in a relationship. It develops the narrative from the song and the lyrics and emulates it in the video. Similar scenes of dialogue appear throughout the video, this is done to interest the reader as they are able to listen to the music as well as watch the narrative play out, and ensures they will be able to understand the meaning the artist is trying to evoke.

The length of the shots is around 6 seconds each during the narrative cut scenes. This changes to 3/4 as the artist is singing to the camera and it shows her in various angles and camera shots.

Like most music videos the shots are edited in time with the music to create a more effective flow and present the video as more professional.

The variety of different shots is conventional to music videos as it looks more professional and sophisticated if there are different shots and angles in the video

The camera is placed at the same level as the artist many times throughout the video which is significant as it is able to give the audience exclusivity and make them feel as if they are close and at the same level as the artist.

The costumes being worn changes 4 times throughout the video. This is a convention of music videos as it keeps the audience interested and can also work with the narrative to show a new day or match the theme; for example in this music video a wedding dress is worn which links directly to the lyrics.

The others outfits also fit in with the story created with the old style dresses as it presents a typical southern couple who were high school sweethearts and grew up in a small town.

The camera movement is slow and steady and follows the artist which gives the impression of a story or film and therefore suggests the music video has a great impact on how the audience will percieve the song and develops the idea that the music video has a strong narrative.  The transitions used also convey this idea and it is slow and develops into a new clip.
