What have you learned from your audience feedback?

EVALUATION QUESTIONS - 3

Rough Cut

After having other media students watch and comment feedback on my rough cut, I was able to get a better grasp of how effective it was as a music video as they understood what goes into a media product. These are their pieces of written feedback.

After reviewing these I decided to make an action plan with what i planned on doing to improve the music video and get it up to a higher standard.

This included:

- making shots lighter when the protagonist is doing a spell - too dark

- cutting down on the shot of the protagonist's ex walking through the record store - too long

- making the artist sing to the camera

- getting rid of the tambourine girl

- adding sound in the beginning

- making the storyline more clear

- adding more performance scenes

- making a clear link between the protagonist and the guy in the video

Final Cut

I took this feedback into consideration when creating a final cut and decided to get rid of some shots all together as they weren't necessary as they didn't add to the narrative and then i reshot the performance scene to show the musicality part of the video.

I then got my target audience to watch my music video and got their responses which are below. I also decided to create a mock-video in the style of the tv show come dine with me as if the music video was professional and on a TV music channel.

Audience Spoken feedback

I have learnt that audience feedback is very important when making a media product as it is what you use to base off any justification for change. It helps to shape what direction your video goes in, as the target audience is the person the product is for their views are significant. My audience helped to change my rough cut for the better as they helped distinguish the scenes that weren't as effective as others and those that were strong. I got feedback from my peers in school and then separately individuals I felt came under the category of target audience due to their likes and interests.

Before creating a rough cut I did my pitch to my target audience and was able to gather what they wanted. This is another example of how i effectively used my audience feedback to create a media product.
