The beginning of the sticks and stones music video is shot in the Point of View of a 'character' in the video. The audience is then made to empathise with the man and watch the video through his eyes.

Moreover the artist in the video engages with the male character which strengthens the connection between the band and the viewer. So whenever one of the girls touches the camera as if it were the man it is as if they are getting closer to the watcher.
